THINGS TO THINK ABOUT!

Street parking in Dartmouth is difficult for much of the year and virtually impossible in high season; be very wary about booking accommodation in Dartmouth without a guaranteed garage or parking space. 1 Orchard Gardens is very fortunate to have a single garage and is within easy walking distance (5-10 minutes) of anywhere in the town. The garage will accommodate most vehicles but some large people-movers/SUVs will not fit because the headroom is limited (~72 inches).

Situated in a sheltered, south-facing, elevated position, 1 Orchard Gardens has the benefit of full sun throughout the day. This is an important advantage at any time of the year but particularly during the low season when many properties in Dartmouth are out of the sun because of the surrounding hills. Properties directly on the river can also be decidedly chilly (even in the summer if it is windy)!

1 Orchard Gardens is in an elevated position and the access steps may not be suitable for the infirm.

Dartmouth remains an active and bustling centre even in low season and, as a result, it is an ideal base for a holiday all year round; most shops, restaurants and cafes are open during the winter months. Other popular holiday destinations in the area are not so fortunate and can be very quiet during low season with many shops and restaurants closed.

The nearest bridge crossing the River Dart is at Totnes (13 miles by car and 8 miles by river) but there are ferry services in Dartmouth for both cars and foot passengers.
